My first Business Plan; Perfume Retail and Wholesale (100 Per Scent)

I came across this business plan I wrote in April of 2021 and I thought to share it as an article. This plan may not be fully detailed and well expressed but however unorganized it might look, it helped me by a long stretch when I launched my business. I had set out to find the artistry in perfumery. Not just the spraying or splashing of different parfum and cologne, that is just simply to smell better than the natural odour of your body. I was not looking for the chemical compositions and molecular formulas of flowers and alcohol after they are distilled, that’s a job for the chemist. I was rather intrigued by how you can see the colours in fragrances even though you are only smelling them with your nose. I was fascinated by the beauty and artistry of the designs of perfume bottles. I loved how a scent sings, you could hear it if you listened, sweet notes of fragrant songs. Yes, I wanted to view the art behind scents. Not just the parts visible to the eyes, but the parts that tickle the soul, tease with the nostril and make the heart smile. Perfumery is an art. Paintings appease the eyes, music gives melody to the ears, and the taste buds are always ready to try the next exciting food or that favourite meal about the skin. Whew! That baby wants to feel and be felt. What then feeds the nose? Asking myself that question triggered my journey through understanding The Art of Perfumery. Scents are beautiful and in this 21st century, people want to buy scents not just so they don’t smell sweaty, but also so they can smell a particular kind of sophisticated way and that is where 💯 Per Scent comes in. I want to help people find that particular scents with fragrances they want to try, with whichever top, middle or base notes they want to smell like or the exact type of fragrance blend they are going for. I want to sell fragrances that are befitting to a knowledgeable 21st-century lady and gentleman. My idea is different from the regular perfume seller’s because people are only concerned about making money and that’s all. The knowledge behind the art and science of perfume is limited, customers don’t know what to expect or what to look out for. There are different types of scents based on the flowers, resins, spices or components combined to give a particular fragrance. Many people don’t have or even know such knowledge exists, that’s why as soon as they are familiar with a particular perfume they don’t want to try another. I want to open up the possibility to a 101 basic knowledge on perfumes while making money out of it. I want to give an average of a hundred per cent through perfume knowledge and experience. People seek information constantly. They want to know. This Brand will stand out because our customers will feel like kings when they can satisfy their needs to buy while learning about the beauty and diversity of fragrances and the role different scents play in perfumes. People will want to buy because they will finally understand how scents play out. They will want to buy because they are buying from a brand they trust knows the subject of what it is selling.

The brand name is suitably trendy as what it is about, an A-plus scent for the modern human. Currently, many brands don’t sell and also guide you through the art of perfumery, that is a trick up my sleeve and 💯 per scent implies that as you are shown those details, we are checking all the boxes 100/100. It is a unique name that would keep ringing in customer’s brains every time they spray a spritz from their perfumes. You can’t shut it out.


EVERYONE wants to smell good just as much as everyone wants to know new interesting and knowledgeable things. By educating how fragrance components and how different notes scent like while also selling affordable irresistible perfumes, it is okay to say EVERYONE that wants to smell good is a target audience. Notwithstanding age, gender, religious inclinations or culture, almost everybody wants to smell good. It is a niche that is never fully saturated.

Face-to-face sale or online sale is possible with perfumes as it is not a perishable and overly fragile product, so the market location is infinite. I can get my products across Abuja and even Nigeria.


💯 Per scent will be made known to the customers through words from the mouth in physical contact and also through the internet. I intend to harness the magic of social media to pass information, unveil the artistry of perfumes and to also sell products. I have saddled myself with the task of creating online content on social media (pictures and videos), making posters and flyers (soft copy and hard copy), creating mail lists and all other advertising forms that are within my means to get the word out about 💯 per scent. Sales will be made online, through in-person meet-ups/pick-ups or via mediums and deliveries.
