I’m fully aware of my imperfections as no one is perfect. I simply own them as being part of me. Any percieved flaw makes me who I am, something different makes me a totally different person, and I am okay with who I am.

Zainab ‘Zaiy’ Omeiza CEO PLANET ZAIY

In hopes that this blog is not only about my interests but also hints at my personality, I will be answering seven (7) personal questions about myself and Planet Zaiy.

How did you get the name Zaiy?

Good question for a start 🙂 My most common nickname used to be Zee. My full name is Zainab or should I say my government name as rappers say *grins. Anyways, I used to date a guy that always called me Zai, without the ‘y’. That’s where I got the idea from and I added the why for extra spiciness— Zaiy. Now, everyone calls me Zaiy. I love the name and sometimes I consider changing my government name to Zaiy.

Gun to your head, choose between being a writer and a fashion designer.

Hahaha, this is quite a scenario and a tough one at that. I have been writing since I was a little girl, writing stories about imaginary people and places. Fashion designing came later on, I started sewing when I was 20 years old. They both bring me joy and I enjoy doing both of them. I had to learn to sew and I am still learning, but writing comes easily to me. I never had to learn it, I only had to get better at it. Honestly, I can’t choose which I’ll rather be. Gun to my head, that bullet is going through my cranium.

What is your favorite thing about yourself?

I realize that as the years go by, I am learning to love and appreciate myself more and more. I’m fully aware of my imperfections as no one is perfect. I simply own them as being part of me. Any perceived flaw makes me who I am, something different makes me a different person, and I am okay with who I am. Back to the question, my favourite thing about myself amongst all others is my creativity. My creativity stands out the most. I see beauty in creation and this quality has made me a better designer, perfumer and even a better writer. I can create emotions, and stories and paint pictures with my words. My creativity makes me a genius.

What is your Star Sign?

By star sign, I assume you mean zodiac sign. I am a Gemini, through and through. I was born on the 13th of June 1998. Many people don’t believe in star signs, but I am one of those that do. When something is mostly accurate, you see the truth in it. However, I do not rely on it as I have met people that are supposed to be a certain star sign but they don’t reflect it. Or maybe, other planetary placements play a role, like the moon and the rising planet. That’s a whole other game, or maybe the whole zodiac sign thingy is just for vibes 🤷🏽‍♀️

How do you spend your day working on Planet Zaiy?

Planet Zaiy is my baby and I give it a lot of attention. My brand is not based solely on one thing as I have perfumes, fashion, a blog, social media accounts, my side hustle as a business coach and other parts that make up this tree. It is quite tasking but in a way, it is interesting. I understand that I have to give time and effort to grow it, yet I enjoy the whole process. It peaks my creativity as there are many things to do. Different activities go into my day-to-day running of the business and I enjoy the fact that it is not static as I fear that may make me bored. Some days I am writing articles for weeks ahead, other days I am in front of the sewing machine making clothes for clients. Some afternoons catch me with perfume wholesalers purchasing goods whilst some afternoons I am looking for good backgrounds with bright lighting to take pictures or videos for content. On other days I am talking and chat with clients or I am delivering perfumes. Somedays I don’t feel like doing anything and I am resting or probably lazying around 😁 As I said, there is a lot to do and I try to take each day as it comes, without pressure, whilst enjoying and appreciating the process.

You said you paint pictures with words, paint a picture of your vision for Planet Zaiy five years from now.

We may think five years is so far ahead but time moves fast and to catch up with its constant ticks, we have to be on the move too. I am fully aware that no matter what picture I paint about Planet Zaiy in this article if I don’t put in the work and work alongside my visions, I will just be imagining what could be. Okay okay, now to answer your question, let me indulge you. ‘I wake up with gratitude because my brand has grown so much I couldn’t have pictured how big it has become. Planet Zaiy is no longer my baby, it is a full-grown teenager 😂 (teenager because of more growth to come). It is the year 2027 and my business has its own store/ fashion house. I go to work there daily and I have people working for me; students, apprentices and workers. People want to learn from me how to design clothes, I have a fashion academy. I also retail perfumes from my store and there is always an order to deliver and there are always walk-in clients. The brand is growing, the business is flourishing and whatsoever I put my mind to, I can achieve and it becomes my immediate reality. I am blessed and highly favoured.

Share three principles you live by.

We all have our shortcomings and some days we are unmotivated to go about fulfilling our daily tasks, but each day I live by some truths I have come into as I have grown. Even on bad days, these are three of my life’s principles ;

1. Be grateful. Be grateful to God, the universe, life, fate, destiny, family and loved ones. I have found Gratitude makes everything better. If you can find something to be grateful for, you will always have something to be grateful for. Things may not be going your way, but it could be much worse.
2. Stay Positive. This is a capital principle so much that I wrote 30 articles on it in a blog I titled Positive Vibrations. You have to remain positive at all times. Think in the line of all things that happen are for your good and will lead you to better places even if it isn’t going well for you. This has to become a mindset and with this, you will always win because thoughts become things. It takes a while to align your thoughts but once you become so positive even when there are negative situations around you, you will begin to see yourself and the world in a different light.
3. Be a giver. We all have something to give, either our knowledge, time, resources, kind words or anything else another person might find of use. Don’t be selfish, live outside yourself, look for ways you can make someone else happy, and then you will always find help when you need it most.
